Dr. Thomas Bergman, MD
Dr. Bergman is the Chief of Neurosurgery at Hennepin Healthcare System (HHS) where his career has flourished for over 35 years. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota. He graduated from Princeton University in 1978, finished medical school and neurosurgery residency at the University of Minnesota, and has been faculty at HHS since 1988. He has a long history with HHS, as he was a student researcher in the Department of Neurosurgery starting in 1978. Dr. Bergman values critically listening to patients and their problems in order to develop hypotheses and further treatment of neurological conditions, especially neurotrauma. He appreciates the intellectual challenges that problem solving poses and, therefore, holds research to be a vital part of advancing medical practices. He is proud of the research and innovation that RNL is continuously working on and is looking forward to growing the lab with more restorative studies that better the quality of life for people.
Dr. Bergman enjoys spending time at his cabin, fishing, upland bird hunting, and family activities in his free time and even finds time to still lace up the skates.
Dr. Walter Galicich, MD
Dr. Galicich is an attending Neurosurgeon at Hennepin Healthcare and an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Galicich is the medical director for the TBI clinic at HCMC. He values the comprehensive aspect of following TBI patients from in hospital to the clinic setting.
